About us:

This website arose from an international meeting of Authentic Movers in June 2006 at Hampshire College. At this event we celebrated and expressed our gratitude for the work of the editors of A Moving Journal: Ongoing Expressions of Authentic Movement and for the work of the editor (Patrizia Pallaro) and authors of Authentic Movement Volume I : Essays by Mary Starks Whitehouse, Janet Adler, and Joan Chodorow and Authentic Movement Volume II: Moving the Body, Moving the Self, Being Moved: a Collection of Essays.

This web site is being developed at the request and under the tender witnessing eyes of this group. We welcome all who practice Authentic Movement in any of its forms to join us and use this web site to enhance ongoing expression of Authentic Movement and to be a resource to our international membership to stay in connection.

With the blessing of the former editors of A Moving Journal, which has ceased publication for the time being, we are trying to fill those big shoes in some ways--by running Classified ads for workshops, teachers, and groups, by publishing the thought-provoking report on the AM Gathering, and by reviving the Directory of authentic movers that was so ably published by Michael Gardos Reid for several years. A Moving Journal is offering back issues and books at their website: A Moving Journal.

The website is staffed by Elizabeth Reid and Ann McNeal on a volunteer basis. You may contact us via email. We welcome input. Please let us know if you are interested in helping with further developments of the community, such as hosting a blog for discussions or publishing articles. We are hoping others will also step forward to develop fundraising for the wider community or an online journal.

We are grateful:
The process of Authentic Movement often gives participants a profound feeling of appreciation for each other. There is no way to express this fully in words, but there are many people who have touched us in the setting up of this web site that we would like to particularly thank. We know this is just the beginning of a list as each day someone else offers us help or support in some way. We hope the site continues to be an open place where anyone with energy to help can participate.
